Little Bay Is An Escape For The Mind, Body & Soul

Little Bay Is An Escape For The Mind, Body & Soul

Anguilla, a 35-square-mile island in the eastern Caribbean, is home to 33 beautiful beaches. Among this collection of powdered white sand beauties is a tiny cove called Little Bay. Little Bay is not easily accessible by land, has no dining options or beach chairs and the beach is one of Anguilla’s smallest, yet it presents an experience which speaks to the mind, body and soul. For the discerning traveler seeking a different beach experience, a visit to this Bay is a must.

While other beaches on Anguilla like Shoal Bay, Meads Bay and Rendezvous Bay are popular for their seemingly endless stretches of pink-tinted sand, wide expanse of crystal clear turquoise waters and the presence of dining and accommodation options nearby, Little Bay is a gem of a beach for very different reasons.

Visit Little Bay For Adventure And Release

Little Bay can only be accessed via a 10-minute hike by land and then a short climb down the side of a cliff. A sturdy rope is attached to the 70 ft rock wall to assist those adventurous enough to make their way down. While not perilous, it can be daunting if you are afraid of heights. For those who do choose this route to arrive and depart, it is a thrilling accomplishment once your feet touch the sparkling white sand below.

Most persons access Little Bay by sea. Some choose to pay an operator a small fee to take them over by dinghy or others drop anchor in boats and yachts. For those looking for more adventure and a great full body work-out, kayaking, paddle boarding, scuba diving or swimming are great ways to get to the Bay.

The ultimate Little Bay adventure is jumping off the ‘big rock’ officially known as Pelican Rock. It is located about 150 feet from shore, so you must swim to it. Another rope is provided to assist you with climbing this 30ft rock. Only true adventure seekers are willing to climb and jump from the rock into the refreshing waters below.

For an added adventure, enter the large cave but this too requires a more adventurous spirit to access it.

Little Bay is a wonderful experience if you go as a group, couple or on a solo-adventure. I have climbed down the rope to the Bay many times. Kayaking from the next nearest beach, Crocus Bay is truly exhilarating but I still have not jumped off the big rock!

Visit little bay for tranquility and relaxation

Limited access to Little Bay means that it is the perfect secluded and tranquil getaway. Visit early in the morning, later in the evening or during the tourism off-season and you could be the only persons on the Bay. Surrounded by towering cliffs you will have a sensation of being secluded and transported from the every-day hustle and bustle of life. Take a few hours or the entire day to completely do nothing. Swim, float or soak in the glittering waters or simply just sun on the beach. Little Bay beckons you to relax. You deserve it.

Little Bay is also the ideal cove for romance. Watch a gorgeous sunset. Bring food and wine for a picnic for two and rediscover your love and passion on this little inlet in Anguilla.

The beauty of Little Bay does not end here. The calm waters of Little Bay are a paradise for those who love to snorkel or scuba dive. Under the azure blue waters lie a kaleidoscope of marine life including fish, stingrays, lobsters and turtles of different sizes, shapes and colors.

I did my Discover Scuba Dive at Little Bay and it was a beautiful experience which will forever be etched in my mind.
